🏠Conference Venue

The conference will take place in the Mahen Memorial building, Mahenova 8, Brno. It is a three-story interwar villa with a garden, located in a quiet residential area called Masarykova čtvrť. The building is managed by the Jiří Mahen Library, which is also co-organizing the conference.

ℹ️Conference Team

During the entire conference, visibly marked members of the Conference Team will be at your disposal both at the venue and during excursions into the city. In case of any questions, suggestions, confusion or problems, please do not hesitate to approach them.

🆘Medical and Psychological Assistance

Should any medical, psychological or another emergencies arise, the Conference Team will have a trained and visibly marked medic in the venue. In case of need, do not hesitate to approach either him or any other member of the Conference Team that will instantly bring him to you.

🍽Food

Communal Lunches and Dinners

Refreshments and cold cuts, as well as good drinks, will be available and replenished during the entire conference. On the Friday evening’s social gathering, there will also be an open buffet – all that for the price of your conference fee.

We have also planned communal lunches and dinners in well-tested restaurants of Brno. These are paid by those attending themselves, but they are by no means compulsory.

Dietary Preferences and Allergies

If you are vegetarian, vegan or you have any other dietary preferences, restrictions or allergies, please let us know – we will cater to you.

🎻Entertainment

Guitar Night, or – Instruments Welcome!

Conference evenings will be full of discussions, good drink and fun – and good music and singing is a part of it. For the past years, many participants have brought guitars, accordions or other musical instruments. This year, we decided to support this initiative with a call – if any of you likes and wants to play an instrument, please bring it along! Rest assured it will not remain unused.

Book Bazaar a SWAP

On Saturday evening (about 17:00–19:00), we will welcome you on an annual book bazaar where you will be able to offer your older books and purchase new ones. Furthermore, three Czech and Slovak publishers – Vondář, Trigon and Sol Noctis – will offer their publications for an attractive price.

This year also brings an “Occult SWAP” on Sunday afternoon (about 12:00–14:00). It will be a space for mutual exchange of occult literature, items, jewelry, art, garments and anything else that comes to your mind. If you are ready to let something go and you would like to exchange it for something interesting or useful with your colleagues and friends, please pack it with you and swap!

🎥Broadcast and Documentary

Broadcast of the Conference

Lectures presented on the conference will be broadcast live on YouTube and Facebook in order to bring them to an audience as broad as possible. Subsequently, a recording of the conference will also be available on these platforms.

The cameras will be aimed at the lecturer – the audience will not be broadcast. However, it may happen that a participant will walk over the shot either by necessity or random. If such situation would be uncomfortable to you, please do contact us and we can address it.

Official opening and closing ceremonies will also be broadcast. Accompanying and social programme will not be broadcast or recorded.

Audio Documentary Recording

As in the years past, this year’s conference will also produce a 15–20 minute audio documentary for Tekutá krajina (Liquid Landscape) podcast. Any participation is entirely optional. Details will be shared during the conference opening.

🕓Conference Entry

Friday Venue Opening and Sunday Library Service

On Friday, October 24th, the conference venue at Mahen Memorial will be open since 16:00. You are cordially invited to arrive prior to conference to accustom yourself to the venue and other participants. Pre-conference programme begins at 16:30. Official conference opening will take place at 18:00.

On Sunday, October 26th, the ground floor of the Mahen Memorial will be providing library service to the public. The conference will be not affected by this fact, but a part of the accompanying exhibition will be demonted.

Entry and Registration

At the conference entry, i.e. while entering the venue, you will be asked to report the name under which you have registered to the conference team at the door and you will be checked against the attendance list. Should serious uncertainties arise, you might be asked to prove your identity.

At the entry, each participant will receive a brochure with conference programme and useful information.

You will need to get off the trolleybus on Žlutý kopec bus stop – from there, the Mahen Memorial is barely 5 minutes away on foot. There are two ways to get there:

At Hlavní nádraží (Main Train Station), you can get on Tram 1 (direction: Ečerova) and get off at Mendlovo náměstí transport hub. From there, you can continue on Trolleybus 35 (direction: Barvičova) and get off on Žlutý kopec.

Alternately, you can take Tram 12 (direction: Technologický park) or Tram 9 (direction: Čertova rokle) from Hlavní nádraží (Main Train Station) and get off at Česká transport hub.FromČeská transport hub, you can get on Trolleybus 38 or Trolleybus 39 and get off, again, at Žlutý kopec.

Tickets:

Beep&go – cheapest alternative – using debit card – you will beep in when getting on, beep out when getting off. All public transport vehicles in Brno are equipped with yellow terminals with a display for this purpose. Just put you card on the terminal and wait for the signal.

SMS ticket – SMS with the text BRNO sent on 90206 phone number; costs 29 CZK, lasts 75 minutes since SMS confirmation. Attention – the ticket takes 1–2 minutes to confirm, ideally send when you see the vehicle arriving.

Ticket machines – most expensive alternative – 60 minute paper ticket costs 25 CZK. Machines at Hlavní nádraží (Main Train Station) accept cards, others mostly only take coins.

Anyone over 70 years of age can use public transport free of charge.

🅿️Parking

There is generally a lot of free parking space around Mahen Memorial on Friday nights and weekends. On Saturday, October 25th, and Sunday, October 26th, parking around the memorial is free (Zóne C). However, on Friday, October 24th, it is necessary to pay for the time from 17:00 to 24:00.

First hour of parking is free, then every hour costs 30 CZK. Parking on Friday from 17:00 to 24:00 will cost a total of 180 CZK. (Not in SMS payment)

Parking paid via SMS is always issued for 120 minutes and must be renewed afterward. It is not possible to pay for a shorter or longer time period. The first 120 minutes cost 30 CZK, and each additional 120 minutes costs 60 CZK.
